Food and coffee are OK la… nothing spectacular that you can't get from the street opposite. The old Malaya vibes are pretty cool though.

Consider that what you’re paying for is taxed heavily - an aesthetic, historic tax.

The servers are relatively attentive, but maybe a bit inexperienced. The mains came with the salads causing the tables to be packed with wide brimmed plates. There is no thought beyond let’s get their food to the tables as soon as it’s ready.

The food is ok, but not worth the premium. The steak is not worth RM150, even though it’s done properly. The soups not worth the premium, the salads generous with ingredients but falls short of its price. Again think of it as a tax.

The decor is nice, the atmosphere is well kept, and that’s what you’re paying for.

Let’s not start with the branding, copywriting, menu design. Just remember: the food is okay, just that you’re paying an additional instagram/history tax.

The food at The Round Tower 1886, located in the Kuching town area, was decent but a bit on the pricey side. 🍴 However, it’s a good place to chill out and relax. 🏞️ #KuchingEats #ChillVibes

The seafood aglio olio was beautifully plated, with a vibrant mix of prawns, clams, squid and mussel. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection, maintaining a slight bite. The oil and garlic provided a rich, savory base, complemented by the briny sweetness of the seafood. But for the clams 3/4 was empty and too oily.

Then, matcha latte was okay. The first sip was smooth and creamy but I can't taste the bitter of matcha.

Great atmosphere, but I don't quite like the food here. Laksa pasta is salty and avocado smoothie is too sweet. Carbonara pasta is normal. Might be a good place to chill out instead of having a proper meal.
