The place is split into two main sections: outdoor and indoor. The indoor galleries have some air-conditioned rooms but half of the indoor area only has fans, so bring a bit of patience if it’s hot. The outdoor area has life-size displays, old gravel pumps and machinery, plus small dioramas that show how tin mining used to be.

The museum is focused on the gravel-pump method and the local tin-mining history. Inside you’ll find models, mining tools, photos and info boards (some multilingual) that give a quick history lesson about Kinta Valley’s tin boom.

I paid RM5 for entry (adult price) and also gave RM1 for fish food outside the museum.. nothing super exciting, but it’s a small extra thing to do if you want to relax for a bit. The museum isn’t huge .. not too big, not too small .. so plan maybe 45–90 minutes.

It would be much more engaging if they added short videos or media screens to explain some exhibits (especially for kids or visitors who prefer watching than reading).

Overall, worth the RM5 if you’re nearby or passing through Kampar and curious about Malaysia’s tin history. Not a full-day attraction, but a neat short stop to learn something local and kill a bit of time.

Great piece of early Malaya history. Deserves greater publicity to encourage inbound & local tourism. Ship could use greater maintenance measures & protection, + budgetary support from gov., tourism etc. to preserve history

RM5 entry for adults—cash only. Got outdoor and indoor exhibits; indoor has 2 air-conditioned floors. Rich historical artifacts showing tin mining and olden-day life. Plenty of nostalgic items like wooden kitchen cupboard, pots and old bicycle. Feels like stepping into my grandfather’s house. Worth a visit.

The Kinta Tin Mining Museum is a hidden gem that beautifully preserves the history of Malaysia’s tin mining era. Makes us appreciate our hardworking forefathers, their resilience and determination.
The entrance fee is affordable.

应是全世界收藏最齐全的锡矿（沙泵）博物馆。也是华人南来当苦力的历史缩影。近打流域，金宝是世界生产锡米之都。也成就了锡米打造之城怡保。曾经是马来亚政府一半的税收來来源。为1900-1985 的马来亚经济贡献功不可没。记载的不只是锡矿史，也是半部华人南迁南洋及马来亚华人在马来亚的经济贡献历史。

Ein Museum über Zinn und dessen Abbau. Das Malaysia einmal mit der größte Zinn Produzent der Welt war ist für mich neu gewesen. Von alten Dokumenten über Gerätschaften bis zu figürlicher Darstellung der Arbeit und des Lebens ist alles vorhanden. Sehenswert!

really interesting and educational museum that showcases the history of tin mining in the Kinta Valley. The exhibits are well organized and give a good insight into how the mining industry shaped Kampar’s past.

The outdoor section with real mining equipment is especially impressive. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the place is clean and well maintained. Great spot for students, history lovers, or anyone curious about Malaysia’s industrial heritage. Worth a visit if you’re in Kampar!

Historical place talk abt tin mining in Ipoh/ Kampar area. A lot of info displayed n quite technical info. Not easy to understand without explanation. RM5 for adult ticket.
