Took my family for a day trip to LKE on past weekend and everyone had a great time. We pre booked durian package for 5 pax but 6 adults + 3 kids of us who are fan of durian can’t finish all. Many thanks to our host, Mr. Duncan who is very knowledgeable and explain to us patiently. 5 stars service and very clean environment. Thumbs up!!

Great 2d1n short getaways from KL
Friendly and homely feel service crew, clean and relaxing environment. Missed their durian cendul and durian milk shake so much.

Homestay is clean, sharing toilets and bath at ground floor, it's quite inconvenient if you're staying at first floor.

Great experience overall.

I paid RM68 to joined their Durian Cultural Fest 2023 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil on 10 Sept 2023. It was extremely disappointing. The so call D24, XO, Udang Merah were all very low quality. Any roadside durian hawkers sell better durian than this. Some of the udang Merah has sour taste. i believe they serve us with the near expired cheap durian.

i felt cheated by Dking + LKE Group.

The goodies bags worth RM250 is another con job. all are vouchers. which you need to fork out more money to buy it.

Of a day trip to Manchis:

The air was crisp, causing me to feel light headed momentarily, as Dato' Noor Azmi Jaafar pedalled up, accelerating his Ford 4-wheel up to the mountainous region of Karak.

The morning mist that sat pretty on the hillsides of the dark, vegetal Titiwangsa range was alluringly stunning - it's like a dash of white smog dotting them. The cumulus cloud sank low to the ridges of the hillsides and the sight was just breathtaking.

While I was mesmerized with nature, whisked away from the callous brick and steel jungle and all of the city's cacophony, Dato' Noor Azmi and I hit a note of an endearing conversation about life and family.

Nothing philosophical but a jestly jab on how we both see the generational gap between us 20, 30 years ago and our children of what we did then was nothing alike what the millenials have today. The phase we went through - the challenges and whatsnot - was different and the way we overcame was not similar.

The conversation then hardened with opinions on the current affairs including politics. Dato' Noor Azmi had retired from politics, although he would be asked by his political elders to give his input on certain things. He is more inclined to running business in the automotive sector and other initiatives. But that, too, he said, has reached the apex of his career, getting him to slow down the pace.

As we reached a small, rustic town of Manchis, some 10km from Karak, I was taken aback seeing the landscape, as if I was teleported to a town in the 60s. But what happened next surprised me totally.

I saw a glass house on top of a hill, the operation centre cum showcase of a durian plantation, run by a premier agriculture company, LKE Musang Queen Sdn Bhd.

This company does not only plant durian trees in a vast tract of hilly land, it also involved in hyroponic, tropical fruits, bioginger and swiftlet farming, apart from palmoil and rubber plantation. All these initiatives make LKE a premier AgroTourism centre in the deep recess of Pahang - the wildest imagination comes true.

True to such wild imagination, LKE uses the Internet of Things (IoTs) to manage its infrastructures from planting, irrigation and watering to harvesting. It amazed visitors including me that IoTs can be deployed in the deep recess of this large state of Pahang, considering the area is mounted at the steps of Banjaran Titiwangsa.

We toured the sectors, spliced into eight areas with sizeable acreage of between 5 to 15, only to be mesmerised by the technology and the sheer size of the plantation. We saw each sector is planted with premium species of durian trees, namely the popular Musang King and Black Thorn, the creme de la creme of durian.

(Note: I have learnt today that Musang King apparently is not the most premium durian, but Black Thorn is. Black Thorn is sold above RM110 per kg locally and RM300 per kg in China).

What LKE is venturing is not just about planting the King of Fruits since the demands for premium durians have shot up over the moon over the past years. It is now offering an excellent opportunity for a Limited Liability Partnership for interested investors to buy slots, each priced at RM18K, on a syariah compliant business deal for a 15-year period, based on the maturing of the trees.

When oil is thought to be the black gold, durian has become the most sought-after creamy gold. And, Malaysian durians especially the Musang King and Black Thorn species are the best, in comparison to the ones produced by Thailand and Indonesia.

As Dato' Noor Azmi and I trudged back on the meandering road, we stopped by his home villages. It appeared that Dato' Noor Azmi is a avid planter of durian trees over some stretches of land in Manchis and Jambu Rias.

"I consider myself as a retiree but I am aglow with passion planting durian trees," he said as if he admittedly saying that he is not ready to call it quits.

C'est la vie.
