The OG of Subang Jaya Nasi Kandar. There are actually quite a handful of good nasi kandars at the Subang Jaya-Sunway area, although some had deteriorated over the years. This shop is probably one of the longest running eateries that survived in this fast-changing street, once known as the "boba street" of SS15. I don't think many SS15 eateries can withstand time well.

What sets Nasi Kandar Utara apart is their potently pungent fresh sambal belacan kisar. The dishes here may actually not fare up to some of its fierce competitors in Subang Jaya. But it's not bad. Yet what keeps me returning again and again is their memorable sambal belacan. It just puts their nasi kandar on a whole different category. If you like pungent fresh sambals, this place is for you.

Dishes are fairly good. I especially love their very nicely braised, curry lady fingers (one of the best lady fingers I have tasted at a nasi kandar place. They used a slender type of lady finger). I believe fried chicken is their most popular pick and yes, it is good. Not dry, has a good firmness to it. Curry or fried slice fish is nice too. I somehow also enjoy their bergedil. It is definitely unlike any other bergedil because it is super greasy and mushy (I think they have since improved its firmness) 😂 Sometimes even overly salty. But man, I am hooked. It just tastes good when mixed in with all the gravy and rice and sambal (even better than the salted egg with nasi kandar combo). For those who hate water taste in the tauge, you might want to avoid. 7 out of 10 times the tauge here have that taste 😂 But it isn't very noticeable with the gravy and sambal so I am not complaining. Their gravy mix has a nice mix of spices in it.

Boss is a funny man. I don't know at whichf point he decided to take note of my regular attendance at the stall 😂 But one day, he turned from this stern looking man to this overly enthusiastic boss. Every time he sees me these days, he welcomes me with such enthusiasm and just wants to randomly recommend dishes to me to add on 😂 He is such a personality 😂 He surprises me every time he greets me enthusiastically 😂 Nice boss 👌

Despite the many imperfections here, somehow, the nasi kandar is addictive. The more you eat it, the more it grows on you. If you're born and bred in Subang Jaya, the gravy probably flows in your veins. If you're not from Subang Jaya and don't like pungent sambal in your nasi kandar, you might not easily like it or understand what's the point of fanfare over this place.

Also, the shop is located right beside an alley. And as you might probably already be aware of, SS15 is full of rats. So this shop is also not for the faint of heart when it comes to cleanliness of surroundings 😂 Parking at this place also can be quite difficult, so it's best to park at the multi level parking or the market's parking and walk over here. MBSJ is very active in this area so if you're not familiar, don't try your luck with random spots to park.

Their prices are fairly reasonable and some dishes are even cheaper than other places.

Definitely worth a try if you're looking for unique spot for nasi kandar in Subang Jaya because this is one of the few non-franchised nasi kandar businesses here. You won't find this taste anywhere else. I also quite enjoy its aged shoplot vibes. Even the signage and tiles design are so telling of the era it came from. It's like a little piece of neighbourhood heritage tucked amid a highly commercialised and modernised area.

Yesterday, kami pergi makan Nasi Kandar and seriously, it was so sedap! The curry memang terbaik, and the fried chicken was unbelievably tasty. Kari limpa tu, memang power gila! And guess what, the total bill for 3 orang was only RM51. Highly recommend to all Nasi Kandar lovers out there – this place is a must-try!

Ada jual burger ..killer dish nasi ganja ...hahaha...
Cuma nak parking agak susah sket..kena parking bertingkat ...yg lain rsnya ok2 jeaa..bleh bayar guna QR...kalo dtg waktu lunch penuh table..kena bersabar kalo dtg berkumpulan..kalo sorg ok2 jea...rsnya kt subang area nasi ganja dia paling murah...ayam order separuh rm7(nasi ayam separuh tanpa sayur)..kalo penuh dlm rm10 add on sayur taugee rm1☺️☺️☺️😅

Has always fond of eating nasi kandar from this shop.

This time tried for a plain thosai (see photo) for breakfast. It is displeasure of having it as it is an overnight thosai, it is so hard to chew. It is just been reheated and served. I would just hope for a freshly made thosai but it isnt.

However, if you coming here for lunch, nasi kandar with either chicken or fish a must try.

Located at the corner shop alongside with used to be boba drink street, finding a parking is a real mess during rush/peak hour.

In my opinion...is just average. Yes, maybe for those regular customers....charge them cheaper or bigger portion but not for outsider customers. They knew b'cos been in business here for decades.

During peak hours, long queue. Not only them, most of the Nasi Kandar restaurant in Subang Jaya. Maybe my first-time here....althought endlot shop but not so spacious...can't see people hanging or dine-in. Their service is super fast, mainly focus on their Nasi Kandar corner. Over Rm$13, chicken given here is quarter, for me is quite big but isn't cheap, right? 2 side dishes add-on:- 1 salted egg and 2 okra. They included 1pkt of Papadam for free. Most generous is their gravy....very delicious 😋 very big pkt and can request more...for me, 3 curries mixed together...not spicy but yummy.

One of the best nasi kandar in Klang Valley, definitely should try. The savoury flavours of their kuah campur mix with thei crispy and large ayam goreng is heavenly. Their curry is on the sour side and that what makes me love it, chicken is so large yet crispy and moist. Oh my, just typing this already made my mouth watery. Recommended to try, you will not regret it.
